About Us

Railway Recruitment Board, Thiruvananthapuram, was constituted in March 1983 under the name of Railway Service Commission, Thiruvananthapuram. It caters to the recruitment needs of all Group 'C' vacancies of Thiruvananthapuram, Palghat and Madurai Divisions of Southern Railway. The candidates recruited by this Recruitment Board are liable to be posted anywhere on Southern Railway.

The selection is based purely on merit and is subject to the rules and regulations framed by the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board). Reservations of posts for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Castes, Ex-servicemen are made in accordance with rules framed by the Government of India from time to time.

Railway Recruitment Board, Thiruvananthapuram, functions directly under the control of Railway Recruitment Control Board, Ministry of Railways, Rail Bhawan, Raisina Road, New Delhi - 110 001.

 

 

 

COMPLIANCE UNDER SECTION 4(1) (B) OF THE RIGHT TO INFORMATION ACT 2005

1.    The particulars of its organization, functions and duties:

Particulars of this organization, function and duties are published in our website under Tab “about us”. Our website address is www.rrbthiruvananthapuram.gov.in.

 

2.    The powers and duties of its officers and employees:

Chairman – Chairman is the over all in charge of the Railway Recruitment Board. The various stages of recruitment process are governed/controlled under the guidance of the Chairman, it is also includes various exam related confidential work. Coordinating with Zonal Railway, Railway Board, other RRB and other office in connection with various recruitment related issues are managed under him.

  

Asst Secretary -   Arranging infrastructure, manpower etc for the execution of various type of examinations are done in consultation with chairman. The Administration of RRB office including staff matter is executed under him.

 

 Ministerial staff – In addition to the day to day activities of an office, the services of staff are also utilized for the execution of various exam related work.

 

3.    The procedure followed in the decision making process including channels of supervision and accountability:

 

     Organization structure of railway recruitment board is as given below-:

Southern Railway

  Formulation of Policies and decision making are done at Ministry of railway, Railway Board level. Those are implemented through RRCB. RRBs are accountable to RRCB and supervised by them.

 

4.    The norms set by it for the discharge of its functions:

This RRB is discharging the duties based on the rules, regulations and procedures

 set by Railway Board as well as clauses in RRB Manual.

5.    The rules, regulations, instructions, manuals and records, held by it or under its control or used by its employees for discharging its functions:

The details regarding rules and regulation direction etc are contained in RRB Manual, Indian Railway Establishment Manual and  orders/ circulates issued by railway Board time to time which are published in the website www.indianrailways.gov.in.

6.    A statement of the categories of documents that are held by it or under its control:

Our office deals with recruitment of candidates as per the requirements of Zonal railway. Hence the document regarding demands of Railway, details of candidates applied, appeared for exams, selected, rejected etc are in the custody of this office. Document of rules, policies, procedures, financial accounts, staff details etc also are in the custody of this office. Documents are preserved up to the period as specified by Manual and policies.             

7.    The particulars of any arrangement that exists for consultation with or representation by the members of the public in relation to the formulation of its policy or implementation thereof:

Details intended for general public are made available in the official website of this RRB. In addition to this, the facilities of Employment News and various leading news papers (including vernacular press) are used to keep the general public informed about the various activities of RRB. Also a public information system is functioning at this office. Public can utilize this to gather information. Address of PIO and appellate authority is published in the website as well as on the notice board at this office.
